International call 2022 in Marine Biology

Since life has appeared on earth, it has developed into a great diversity of forms as the result of adaption and evolution, in particular in oceans. This diversity remains to be described and understood since most of the species and their biology are largely unknown. Investigating the biological mechanisms of marine species will be essential for understanding life history and evolution and for the preservation of life diversity. Investigating the diversity of biological mechanisms in Marine Biology will also allow to identify new molecular pathways and enzymes or products which might benefit the industry or medicine.

Therefore, the Institute for Biological Sciences (INSB) at CNRS is launching a call that aims at developing studies on marine biological models and mechanisms. The goal of this call is to foster and strengthen collaborations between INSB laboratories and laboratories from Japan, Taiwan, Singapore and Australia.

Projects from laboratories primarily affiliated to INSB will be funded for two years with a budget of 10 k€ per year. Budgets should be dedicated to running costs and travels (in such cases, travel, and meeting expenses) necessary for the project (no salaries or allowances). Projects will be evaluated on their originality and the strong adequacy between the biological question and the models to be developed. In addition, the applicants should benefit of the proper intellectual and technical environment to develop their project and the need for collaborations should be clearly justified. The PI in France will engage the funds for all participating laboratories.

Applications:
5 pages describing the project, plus the 2 CV of 2 pages (french and foreign PI). The application must be 9 pages maximum in total (including figures) and should follow the following organization:
