EMBO Workshop - Adherent microbial communities: Quantitative approaches from single cell to ecosystems

Bacteria form complex spatially structured adherent communities which involve physical forces, chemical gradients and cooperative cell-cell interactions. An integrated view of these processes at all scales from the single cell to mesoscale patterns and ecosystems requires microbiologists and physicists to bridge large disciplinary gaps. To this purpose, the involved scientific communities must not only establish new cross-disciplinary language but also train the next generation of scientists to these emerging challenges.

This EMBO workshop aims to fulfill this ambitious goal and connect senior and junior researchers through a series of lectures, seminars and workshops that will zoom in, from single cell approaches, and out, to the ecology of complex microbial consortia.
